Many modern, small-displacement gasoline engines use direct injection (DI) to introduce fuel. Unlike traditional port injection that sprays fuel into the intake manifold to mix with air before going into the combustion chamber, direct injection uses a high-pressure injector to spray fuel directly into the engine’s combustion chamber. Keep Your E-Body Barracuda or Challenger Cool with a Griffin Exact Fit Radiator Combo
A Griffin Exact Fit Radiator Combo will keep your 1970-74 E-body running nice and cool. The aluminum radiators are a drop-in replacements for the factory unit and have OEM-style stamped tanks, mounting provisions for factory equipment, and all required mounting tabs and brackets for a seamless installation. They’re available with a built-in transmission fluid cooler for auto transmission-equipped cars. Some combos will fit cars with factory AC too.
The radiator is fully welded from AA3003 aluminum and features a MegaCool two-row core with 1.25-inch wide tubes. That design provides 25 percent more cooling capacity than radiators with two rows of one-inch tubes. All components are vacuum-brazed together at about 1,100 degrees F. The process uses magnesium to give the aluminum additional strength, just like aluminum alloys used for aircraft frames and structural components of vehicle chassis.
The Griffin Exact Fit Radiator Combos come with a 16-inch single or 10- or 11-inch dual electric fans; an aluminum shroud; a temperature sensor; wiring harness; and a radiator cap. Griffin even went to the trouble of mounting the fan(s) and shroud to the radiator—all you have to do is bolt it in, connect some hoses and wires, and you’re ready to beat the heat.
