Input housing failure at the shaft and forward piston areas is common in high-torque 4L60, 4L60-E, 4L65-E, and 4L70-E transmissions. Also, the input drum assembly is known to crack and strip out splines where the input shaft is pressed into it (where the overrun piston rides). Sonnax input housing sleeve kits—forward sleeve kits and overrun sleeve kits—when used in combination with each other, greatly increase the maximum strength of the housing for additional torque capacity and can prevent these failures. Sonnax input housing overrun and forward sleeve kits are offered separately. Both sleeves feature high-strength, chromoly construction that increases housing torque capacity by protecting the shaft and either the forward piston or overrun piston areas. Sonnax TV cable corrector kits are prevent the TV cable from being pulled out of adjustment at full throttle--by allowing the spring to compress and absorb any excessive cable pull. On most GM and Ford transmissions with cables, the throttle valve cable pulls out of adjustment at wide-open throttle. This is typically caused by inaccurate geometry of the throttle shaft lever. There should be a specific degree of movement of the attachment element pivot point between closed and wide-open throttle; and a specific distance between the pivot points of the attachment element and the throttle shaft lever.

Sonnax manual shift shafts contain early model manual shift shafts that retrofit to a late model manual shaft detent lever, allowing the late model case and detent lever to be used in early models. These shafts offer a more economical solution than the OE manual shift shaft and detent lever kit, without the added cost for such additional components as the OE lever, pin, and shaft seal--parts rarely used during the rebuild. The manual shift shaft and fasteners have been yellow zinc plated for corrosion resistance to road salt and other environmental contaminates. GM 6L45, 6L50, 6L80 and 6L90 automatic transmission units may exhibit multiple line pressure and cooler/converter/lube flow problems due to excess wear in the pressure regulator bore. Deterioration at the balance spool end allows critical fluid loss, resulting in high line pressure, harsh shifts, and overheating due to reduced cooler/converter flow. Wear at the outboard spool robs converter feed pressure and lowers line pressure, resulting in soft shifts and burnt clutches. Installing a Sonnax pressure regulator valve kit restores the hydraulic integrity of these circuits for proper line pressure control in all ranges. A new pressure regulator valve outer spring is also included to replace weakened original springs and provide a modest 5 psi increase across the pressure curve. Vehicles with GM 200-4R and 4L60 transmissions often have problems with poor reverse boost or upshifts in manual low. These are generally caused by a worn reverse boost valve sleeve or wear at the pump body. Sonnax offers a larger ratio (.283 in.) reverse boost valve kit to restore the hydraulic integrity of the assembly. Due to the differences in the thermal expansion rate of steel and aluminum when the transmission approaches operating temperature, the sleeve has been allowed excessive clearance and scrubs the bore. Transmission cases made in 1994 and 1995 have neutral safety switch mounting holes, but do not have the top mount shifter bracket holes.
