GM 8L45 and 8L90 transmissions often suffer burnt clutches, shift concerns, low line pressure and/or converter apply complaints—due to excess wear in the signal accumulator piston bores in the control solenoid valve body casting. This wear allows valuable VFS signal pressure to exhaust, preventing proper shift control, line pressure regulation, and/or converter clutch apply. Sonnax TV cable corrector kits are prevent the TV cable from being pulled out of adjustment at full throttle--by allowing the spring to compress and absorb any excessive cable pull. On most GM and Ford transmissions with cables, the throttle valve cable pulls out of adjustment at wide-open throttle. This is typically caused by inaccurate geometry of the throttle shaft lever. There should be a specific degree of movement of the attachment element pivot point between closed and wide-open throttle; and a specific distance between the pivot points of the attachment element and the throttle shaft lever.

Sonnax manual shift shafts help rebuilders use late model cores to rebuild into early model units. Sonnax manual shift shafts contain early model manual shift shafts that retrofit to a late model manual shaft detent lever, allowing the late model case and detent lever to be used in early models. These shafts offer a more economical solution than the OE manual shift shaft and detent lever kit, without the added cost for such additional components as the OE lever, pin, and shaft seal--parts rarely used during the rebuild. The manual shift shaft and fasteners have been yellow zinc plated for corrosion resistance to road salt and other environmental contaminates. The flange face of the nuts is serrated for better holding capacity.

GM 4L60, 4L60-E, 4L65-E. and 4L70-E input drum assemblies are known to crack where the input shaft is pressed into it (where the overrun clutch rides). Sonnax input drum reinforcement kits include a hardened steel sleeve that reinforces the input drum to prevent this failure. Sonnax actuator feed limit valve kits eliminates problems with the OE AFL valve design in GM 4L60-E, 4L65-E and 4L70-E units. OE designs have a large reaction area and are highly affected by side loading which wears the valve body bore, resulting in lower oil pressure to the shift solenoid and lower line pressures. Sonnax kits include a redesigned AFL valve and a wear-resistant sleeve to regulate pressure and re-establish proper pressure control. The hardcoat anodized aluminum valve features annular grooves to prevent side loading and has 54 percent more support by operating in the full contact sleeve. Vehicles with GM 200-4R and 4L60 transmissions often have problems with poor reverse boost or upshifts in manual low. These are generally caused by a worn reverse boost valve sleeve or wear at the pump body. Sonnax offers a larger ratio (.283 in.) reverse boost valve kit to restore the hydraulic integrity of the assembly. Due to the differences in the thermal expansion rate of steel and aluminum when the transmission approaches operating temperature, the sleeve has been allowed excessive clearance and scrubs the bore.
