Do you have a part number on the lugs that are used on these wheels
Asked by CHRISTIAN on 4/8/2020
Most any 1/2 x 20 nuts will work. However I purchased spline drive nuts so the diameter would be smaller. The nuts are recessed in the wheel and did not want to scratch. I purchased mine from Amazon.

Q:
My 68 Mercury Monterey currently have 15x6 stock wheels. I want to put 15x7 wheels on. Will these fit my car? It has drums all around.
Asked by CHRISTPHER on 3/25/2023
Put mine on a ‘69 Plymouth Fury II that had 14’s. New disc brakes required a 15 or larger. Got 15x7 and they fit no problem. To be safe, ask a brake specialist. Worked great for me.

Q:
I want to get 4 of these. 2 15x7 and 2 15x8. On the 15x7's they need to clear the front drum bearing protrusion. The hole circumference appears to be fine, but I need to know that the centers will accommodate 65mm in length. Thank you, Steve
Asked by Customer on 7/30/2019
I’ve put these 15x7 on two 65 Mustangs, no issues with clearance on the hub bearing cap.

Q:
Will the VN 501 wheel accept clip on weights?
Asked by Customer on 7/24/2026
American Racing VN501 Gloss Black Machined Wheels 15x7
(VN50157034500) will accept clip-on weights, but adhesive/stick-on weights are recommended if you want to avoid marring the gloss black/machined finish. Use only the correct alloy-wheel clip style if clip-on weights are installed.

Q:
have a 1974 Pontiac Grand Prix - need to know what lug nuts to order with these rims
Asked by PETER on 8/28/2020
I put these rims on a 1982 El Camino. Unfortunately, long before I ordered these rims I had ordered chrome acorn, 13/16" nuts to put on whatever wheels I was going to purchase. Just this past week I put the new wheels and tires on and found that the acorn nuts are nearly too wide to allow anything but a thin walled deep socket to tighten them down. And that is only if I don't insert the socket too far down on the acorn nut or the socket will get stuck in the wheel. So, while I have them on now, I know I am going to have to go to another type of lug nut beside these chrome acorn nuts. Or else, carry a breaker bar and a socket for a lug wrench. Hope this helps steer you away from acorn nuts. But don't have a solution, as yet, for what to use and what would look good. The acorns do look good on the wheel, though.

Q:
Summit says that this wheel has 5x4,5 bolt pattern size and this wheel should fit my car , 67 Riviera .
In the original technical documentation by Buick, the size of the wheel is 5x5.
Does the difference come from a different measurement method? because I see on the internet that there are differents methods of measurement (diameter of an imaginary circle passing through the center of the studs, space between two nuts opposed by the center, sometimes the center and an outside ..)
On my stock wheels, I measure 4.75 by measuring between two studs taking the center for both.
If I use the method of the two adjacent studs and multiplying by 1.70 as the method wants to calculate the diameter of the circle, I find 5x5 ..
On your website , Summit seem to indicate a system of measurement by the two opposite studs taking the center of one and the ooutside of the other, as we see elsewhere on the net. In which case I find 5x5.12 ...
I do not know what to think.
Are you sur this wheel fits my car ? because I live in France , a return would not be a good thing...
Thank you .
Regards
Hubert
Asked by HUBERT on 11/16/2019
Thank you for your question. A 1967 Buick Riveria has a 5 x 5 in. bolt pattern. The American Racing VN50157034500 wheel will not fit this vehicle application and at this time the American Racing VN501 series wheel is not available in the required 5 x 5 in. bolt pattern.

when I use your fit checker, your website says that these wheels will not fit my 1966 Chevelle Malibu convertible. But from what I’m seeing from the specifications, these definitely will fit. Am I missing something?
Asked by Customer on 8/10/2025
American Racing VN501 Gloss Black Machined Wheels 15x8 (ARE-50158012500) does not have the correct wheel bolt pattern for a factory 1966 Chevy Chevelle Malibu.

Q:
Is it necessary to purchase a trim ring for this wheel or is that contained in the 1 piece wheel assembly?
Asked by CONNOR on 5/7/2025
The wheel does not come with a trim ring. If you wish to spoil the appearance of the wheel you could purchase them from numerous vendors.. but I wouldn't, they look great the way they are.
I've got a big box of trim rings that I'll be selling in a garage sale real cheap.

No, it's all one piece. This has the chrome on the wheel unlike the originals that put the trim ring over the raw part of the wheel to make it look like chrome. If you're not wed to only original equipment, these look great.

Q:
These wheels were made to replicate the 70 SS Chevelle wheels. Why is it that they won't fit the very car they were replicated from?
Asked by SCOTT on 6/14/2021
I purchased these wheels to replace my stock 14 inch wheels on my 70 Chevelle SS. 15x8 for rear and 15x7 for the front. They look amazing and no issues with fitment what so ever. I did have to grind the tabs on the SS caps to get the stock caps to fit but wasn't hard to do.

Because what is the right of set size
I want to but 17*7 in the front and 17*8 in the back
Other questions what is the difference between vn500 and vn501

Asked by ALI on 1/8/2017
Thank you for your question. American Racing VN50177012500 will not work for your application. You will need to use a wheel with a 5x4.75 in. bolt pattern. You will need to measure wheel width, backspace and tire size to verify fitment. The VN501 are a 1 piece wheel and the VN500 is a 2 piece wheel.

to GARRETT from CA: What kind of brakes are you running on the car? I love the look of these wheels and want to run CPP front 13" brakes
Asked by ART on 2/24/2019
Factory disc and calipers. Had 17"s on my old chevelle with 2 piston calipers and cleared no problem. I run a 245/45 17 tire like the look fits great.

Q:
can i use factory lugs on these rims? standard gm 7/16 lugs. or do i need a special lug with a different pitch?
Asked by CHRIS on 6/21/2020
Yes, as long as the factory lugs are 60 degree conical seat they should work. Standard for many GM factory steel wheels. I did have to buy an extra-thin wall, impact, deep well socket as a standard thickness socket won't clear.

Are its possible to get SS center caps for this wheel?
Asked by TORBEN on 12/13/2020
At this time the only wheel center cap we offer that is specific to the American Racing VN50179034500 wheel is the replacement American Racing 4500100011. However, we do offer the OER 3956772 wheel center cap emblem with an adhesive backing. Some trimming may be required for a proper fit.

Put these on the front of my 1969 Mustang. They're wrapped in Nitto 555G2's (235ZR45-17). The rear is VN50117x9 with 245ZR45-17. They're are no clearance issues with the car at 1" lowered height, and the stance looks awesome.

Love these wheels! Old school look with a modern touch.
Only thing to comment is that one of the wheels needed quite much weights when balancing them. But my tire guy got it zeroed out so i am happy.

I set up my 1969 Mustang with a set of American Racing VN501 17" Magnum 500 style whees. I have 17"x8" with 245/45 Nittos in front and 17"x9" with 275/40 Nittos in the back. Note: 275/40 and 245/45 are the same diameter. google tire size calculator to help you figure out your tire sizes. I have absolutely no problem with my front wheel set up. However, I do have some rubbing on my driver side in the rear when I go over some bigger bumps. So, I am either going to roll my rear fenders or install some appropriate bump stops so my suspension doesn't go down so far. I am running some Scott Drake leaf springs that lower the car 1" from stock. The front coils I just cut down until I got the right height. All that being said I love the look and the stance now!!!

Got these to replace my factory SSII wheels on my '69 442. They're similar to the SSI's and MUCH cheaper than a 17" SS wheel. I wish the American Racing logo wasn't on the wheel. It would look better without but a great product otherwise. Have gotten a lot of compliments on the look.
