The latest generation of RAM’s popular pickup drops the HEMI 5.7L that served as the base engine for its predecessor. At the same time, RAM made the formerly optional 6.4L HEMI V8 engine standard and mated it to a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. The company offered an upgraded version of its 6.7L Cummins I6 turbodiesel engine with a new compacted graphite iron block design that contributed to a reduction in weight and increased power. Fitted with this engine, the new RAM 2500 is engineered to produce 850 lb.-ft. of torque and 370 horsepower. Beyond the engine, RAM also implemented refinements such as adaptive cruise control, factory LED headlights, new premium materials in certain trim levels, a 12-inch touchscreen, and more.
