EMPI's counter-weighted crankshafts provide several benefits, including reduced crank-flex, harmonics, and vibration for smoother operation, as well as higher RPM performance. With a forged steel construction and nitriding, which also adds to their strength and performance for use in high-performance applications, the crankshafts are precision ground, micro-polished, and dynamically balanced for consistent performance. EMPI Cylinder Heads
EMPI's selection of cylinder heads includes dual port GTV-2s and stock units for your air-cooled VW engine. GTV-2 dual port cylinder heads are available with different specs to out-class the competition. Each head offers aluminum alloy construction with beefed-up intake and exhaust ports to allow massive porting without the need for welding, and a 3-angle performance valve job. GTV-2 dual port heads are assembled with 40 x 35.5mm stainless steel Manley valves, single or dual Hi-Rev valve springs, chromoly retainers, hardened keepers, rocker, exhaust and intake studs. They have 12mm 3/4 in. spark plug holes. EMPI stock dual port heads are offered complete or "bare". Both have 14mm 1/2 in. spark plug holes, are SCORE-approved, and include rocker, exhaust, and intake studs. Complete heads also include 85.5mm bores assembled with 35.5 x 32mm OEM OSVAT stock valves, stock valve springs, steel retainers, and hardened keepers. Bare heads hardened seats and silicon bronze valve guides installed. Select the EMPI cylinder head needed for your engine.

The EMPI piston and cylinder sets offer benefits like hypereutectic pistons for long life and better heat handling, or forged pistons for high-performance applications requiring maximum strength and durability under extreme heat and pressure from turbochargers or nitrous. The hypereutectic pistons have excellent thermal reflective properties and minimal expansion, contributing to a long service life. Forged pistons and extra-thick cylinders are designed for high-stress environments like those found in turbocharged or nitrous-injected engines.
