Sierra Marine flywheel keys are intended to replace a lost or damaged key by fitting it into an existing hex bolt hole in the back of your boat motor. The main purpose of said keyways is to prevent components from slipping on and rotating independently from the shaft they are mounted on, which adds torque capacity in driven systems.
