The industry-leading camshaft designers at COMP Cams set out to engineer a camshaft specifically for the requirements of open wheel modified racers. They had to take on the daunting task of building maximum horsepower, while still taking into consideration the tire restrictions, chassis technology, engine combinations, and common rule packages found in open wheel modified racing sanctioning bodies, such as IMCA. The Open Wheel Modified Traction Control Camshaft Series is comprised of 10 solid flat tappet and mechanical roller grinds for small block Chevys. These powerful camshafts are separated into four categories, each of which is optimized for open wheel modified racing. A combination of proven camshaft design technologies and the most innovative and aggressive lobe profiles in the industry has produced camshafts that deliver an extremely wide powerband, pulling hard off the corner and all the way down the straightaway. A further benefit of the broad horsepower curve of these cams is that they minimize tire spin, creating legal traction control. These innovative grinds have been extensively track-tested, and they have been proven to run faster than any camshaft that has ever been tested for this type of racing.
