Hamilton Cams Valve Springs

Higher rpm, increased boost/drive pressures, and aggressive camshaft profiles can result in valve float and cause serious damage to diesel valvetrains. Valves can also be blown open by higher boost and exhaust drive pressures creating reversion that allows exhaust gas to enter the cylinders on the intake stroke. This re-introduced exhaust gas shields fuel particles from oxygen, delays the start of combustion, decreases cylinder pressure and temperature, and lengthens the time needed to completely burn the fuel … all reducing power.

Hamilton Cams valve springs can improve power by allowing higher boost pressures and rpm without valve float or excess reversion. Their single valve springs work well up to 4,500 rpm with moderate-lift camshafts and OEM-size valves. However, as rpm, valve lift, spring pressures, and valve sizes increase, dual Hamilton Cams valve springs are necessary to properly control the valves. For the highest camshaft lifts, they should be used with Hamilton Cams titanium retainers.

Note: As a precautionary measure, titanium retainers should be inspected after every season for excessive wear.
