Chevrolet Performance 502 Mark IV/Gen VI Bare Blocks

The Chevrolet Performance 502 Mark IV/Gen VI bare block is a high-strength, cast-iron, 4-bolt main engine block designed for building robust big block Chevy engines, suitable for high performance street or marine applications. It bridges Gen VI and Mark IV designs, featuring a 4.470 in. finished bore, a 9.800 in. "short-deck" height, and one-piece rear main seal, making it ideal for 502 cu. in. (8.2L) engines. The "short-deck" block was designed to meet the needs of powerful and reliable 500 c.i.d. street or marine engines. The block cylinder walls are Siamesed and are bored to 4.47 in. The deck surfaces are reinforced to enhance the head gasket seal. Four-bolt main bearing caps are utilized to strengthen cylinder barrels and add strength to the bottom-end. Standard decks of 9.800 in. are employed on these blocks. They're used on 502 engine assemblies and partial engines, and can use roller or standard tappet camshafts.
