In 1976, Pontiac's Firebird brochure referred to the Screamin Chicken as "the available giant Firebird hood decal." Starting that year, the unmistakable graphic was glued to the hood of every Special Edition, Anniversary and Pace Car model Trans Am sold until 1981. Ironically, thanks to nostalgia and the collector car market's invigorated enthusiasm for second-generation Trans Am's, the big hood bird is today an enduring symbol of the defunct GM brand.
