Perma-Cool heavy-duty transmission coolers are perfect for tow vehicles or transmissions equipped with high stall-speed converters. They are easy to install and feature a rugged 1 1/2 in. thick design to control chronic fluid overheating and breakdowns in high-heat applications. These coolers are available in a variety of sizes, with a large array of tube-pass variations. They have oversized 5/8 in. diameter tubes with Turbulator cooling fins for maximum heat transfer, and durable mounting brackets for a secure attachment. The OE pressure regulator valve design prevents adequate cooler flow at low rpm and high-pressure conditions, which can create overheating. Additionally, in 1999 and later vehicles, the factory EPC pressure was set high at idle, resulting in engine surge conditions in GM 4L80-E and 4L85-E units.
