South Bend Clutch Stage 3 Daily Driver Clutch Kits
South Bend Clutch Stage 3 Daily Driver clutch kits are recommended for single mass flywheel (SMF), when original design is dual mass flywheel (DMF). These clutch packages are designed for high-horsepower vehicles desiring a start performance similar to OE. The pressure plate is race engineered (SS) and SFI-approved with significant load increase over stage 1 and 2 pressure plates (+600-800 lbs.). Expect a pedal effort increase of 20 to 25 percent. Discs are assembled with heat-treated wear-resistant hubs, as well as drive plates and springs for high-load transfer and dependable operation. The sprung centers on the disc, in conjunction with the marcel fin between the linings, create a dual dampening effect that simulates OE start performance. A performance organic friction material with a high metal content increases torque and rpm capability—and maintains low operating temperatures, which reduce wear and glazing. Roll cages are offered in these materials: * 1 5/8 in. O.D. 0.134 in. wall ERW mild steel tubing * 1 5/8 in. O.D. 0.120 in. wall DOM tubing * 1 5/8 in. O.D. 0.083 in. wall 4130 chromoly tubing DOM tubing is very strongly recommended; ERW cages will most likely NOT pass tech inspection for most classes. Chromoly is not recommended by most sanctioning bodies.
