MSD Pro-Billet Street distributors are a popular choice for those who desire race-proven performance for their street machine. A vacuum advance canister provides improved economy, and the proven MSD mechanical advance mechanism allows you to dial in a timing curve to fit your needs. As always, an advance kit of springs and stop bushings is included. The housing features an all-billet 6061-T6 aluminum design for accuracy to within .001 in. An oversized steel shaft is QPQ-coated for low friction, and rides in sealed ball bearings at the top and bottom of the distributor. An extra-long sintered bushing replaces the ball bearing at the bottom for Chevrolet models. This combination keeps the shaft steady, creating accurate spark delivery at any rpm. They rely on a magnetic pickup to trigger the MSD ignition control, which delivers the powerful sparks to the coil. This pickup is extremely accurate and never needs adjusting. MSD Pro-Billet locked-out distributors are built from strong billet aluminum for engines that run locked-out timing or an MSD timing computer. With no advance assembly, the rotor plate is welded directly to the oversized shaft. A sealed ball bearing guides the top of the shaft, while an extra-long sintered bushing stabilizes the lower portion. This extra support ensures stable and accurate timing signals throughout your engine's entire rpm range. Trigger signals are produced via a high-output magnetic pickup. This pickup is extremely accurate and never requires adjustment. A precision-manufactured reluctor is responsible for triggering the pickup. Since these distributors are designed primarily for race engines, an oversized (+.006 in.) bronze gear is installed, along with an adjustable slip collar for modified blocks, heads, or intake manifolds.
