Lakewood Safety Bellhousings
Lakewood safety bellhousings are designed for maximum performance and durability. They are cut on CNC 5 axis laser cutters rather than plasma cutters to improve finish quality, reduce heat damage and warpage from the plasma cutter, improve speed of manufacture, and make them all exactly the same. All bellhousings feature a scalloped plate on the bottom of the transmission surface made from G70 grade steel (70,000) psi which will help eliminate stripping the transmission bolts. The engine plates are made of H60 grade material and the bells are roto-brated after welding to relive any stresses created from the hydro forming, annealing, or welding process prior to machining and painting. The roto-brating process also closes the metal on the outer surface making them stronger. Ever wonder how the SFI tests bellhousings like these Lakewood safety bellhousings? First, they bolt the bellhousing to a machine with a cast iron flywheel and saw inside it. Then they spin the flywheel, causing the saw to cut through it until it explodes. If the bellhousing can contain the explosion, the bellhousing is approved. These safety bellhousings are a safeguard to minimize the destructive effects of such an explosion. These distributors offer these benefits: improved timing and dwell control; higher energy at the spark plug for easier starting; improved throttle response; extended RPM range; and better efficiency, along with increased spark plug life. The distributor bodies are CNC-machined from forged 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum and come with a glass fiber reinforced (PBT) tan cap (which is patterned after the OEM dual point cap)—with extra internal voltage dams that help to prevent crossfire while resisting carbon tracking. Summit Racing™ Digital RTR Plus Billet Distributors
We've taken our original Ready-to-Run billet distributors and upped the ante with our Summit Racing™ Digital RTR (Ready-to-Run) Plus billet distributors. They now feature a digital module with a 7.5 amp rated dwell control circuit for maximum energy output. They deliver 400 volts and 125mJ of spark energy to the coil and upwards of 50,000 volts from the coil to the spark plugs. We've also added a single-stage rev limiter with a simple "tap to ground" process of the tachometer lead attached to the module to set the limiter. The tachometer dual purpose lead also produces a 25 percent duty cycle, square wave signal, so it can be used with multifunction tachometers and most popular aftermarket EFI systems. Another bonus feature of our digital technology is a fully automatic start retard. This built-in feature provides 4 degrees of timing retard during cranking and is fully dialed out by 300 rpm. This gives you easier and quicker hot restarts while lowering the initial start load on the starter and electrical system. With all these upgraded features, you're assured of peak output throughout all RPM ranges, quicker hot starts, EFI capability and the reliability of digital technology. The distributors still have the same lightweight, forged, precision CNC-machined aluminum housing for strength and stability; polished steel shafts with sealed ball bearings for stable operation through 10,000 rpm; and a maintenance-free, high-output magnetic trigger for accurate and reliable performance. Mallory Unilite Breakerless Ignition Conversion Kits
Convert your OEM-style breaker points and condenser to the more reliable Unilite ignition from Mallory. These self-contained units have no moving parts to wear out, so they provide many years of trouble-free service. Simply replace the points with the Unilite module, which consists of a photo coupler, signal processor, and power switch. Each time the shutter wheel stops the infrared light from reaching the photo coupler, the electronic circuitry energizes the ignition coil. When the shutter wheel allows the light to reach the photo coupler, the stored energy in the coil discharges. These kits can drive both OEM and high-performance ignition coils, and are designed for 12 V negative ground systems.
