With only 500 ohms/ft. of resistance, more ignition energy can reach the spark plug, producing a longer-lasting, hotter spark flame kernel. The result is higher performance through improved efficiency, quicker throttle response, and reduced emissions. The wires feature silicone construction and are rated for 450 to 550 degrees F (depending on the set). The wire jacket resists moisture, chemicals, and heat extremes for longer life and great looks. The ultra-low resistance wire core is wrapped in a high dielectric capacitance jacket to keep voltage directed to the plug, and is protected by a tough silicone outer jacket. Stainless steel terminals (solid brass for Ford D.I.S. applications) with hardened, positive snap-locks ensure a permanent connection, and the silicone boots can handle up to 450 degrees F of heat. Convert your OEM-style breaker points and condenser to the more reliable Unilite ignition from Mallory. These self-contained units have no moving parts to wear out, so they provide many years of trouble-free service. Simply replace the points with the Unilite module, which consists of a photo coupler, signal processor, and power switch. Each time the shutter wheel stops the infrared light from reaching the photo coupler, the electronic circuitry energizes the ignition coil. When the shutter wheel allows the light to reach the photo coupler, the stored energy in the coil discharges. These kits can drive both OEM and high-performance ignition coils, and are designed for 12 V negative ground systems.
