Baer Brakes SS4 disc brake systems deliver superb stopping power. These systems feature their S4 4-piston calipers mounted to a slotted, drilled, zinc plated rotor (see diameters). Baer systems include unique billet backing plates that not only act as caliper mounts, but also house the banksia (one-piece) park shoe--a more modern and better working park brake assembly (on rear kits). A 4-wheel disc brake upgrade (Corvette-style 4-piston calipers for both front and rear) was offered on the 1968 Camaro as a "heavy-duty service" package sold through Chevrolet car dealers. In 1969, a JL8 package could be ordered as a RPO on production vehicles. These unique, high-end brakes were very rare, being sold on only about 200 production vehicles.
