OER Authorized Bolt-In IFS Conversion Kits
OER Authorized bolt-in IFS conversion kits are available for 1947-54 GM pickups with a V8 engine. The kits will improve your vehicle's ride, handling, and performance. These steel crossmember kits convert your antiquated stock front suspension and steering box to a more modern 1974-78 Mustang II or 1974-80 Pinto/Bobcat setup. Enjoy better handling with the addition of rack and pinion steering and twice the suspension travel when compared to stock. Combine this advancement in steering and suspension with the added benefit of modern braking power, and this setup becomes a no-brainer. The bolt-in kit is designed for use on 1947-54 Chevy 1/2 ton or light-duty 3/4 ton frames, and will drop the ride height approximately 2 1/2 to 3 in. using stock Mustang II front spindles. Lower control arm pivot tubes and gussets are not included in this kit. (A weld-in crossmember it is also available, if preferred.) Specs: * Bolt-in components. No welding required * Proven Mustang II geometry * Can use stock 1974-78 Mustang II or 1974-80 Pinto suspension components, except control arms. * Requires tubular control arms (strut-less style lowers) * Interlocking bolt-in boxing plates reinforce frame for strength * Requires power steering rack * Stock spindles will drop ride height 2-1/2" - 3 inches * Will work with small block or big block Chevy engines * Not for use with air-ride front ends Note: Additional items may be needed to complete installation, including but not limited to tubular control arms, spindles, coilover springs/shocks, rack and pinion steering, tie rods, calipers, rotors, inner tie-rod extensions. Chassis Engineering IFS Mounting Kits
Once you've located the donor AMC Pacer (required, but not included), you'll find the use of these Pacer IFS mounting kits from Chassis Engineering gives you the ability to upgrade your vehicle's front suspension setup. Ok, it may require a bit of hard labor, but so worth it in the long run! That's because after the kits' steel brackets are welded to the Pacer crossmember, the rest of installation is bolt-on! The original Pacer crossmember bolts in, containing all of the needed suspension parts (original A-arms, springs, tie rods, steering, shocks, etc.) in a single unit.
