Wear at the piston pin bore surface can result in poor shift quality and burnt clutches and bands. Sonnax pinless accumulator piston kits prevent pin bore leakage. Sonnax servo release check valve kits are unique solutions. Since the GM 4L60 (700-R4) and 4L60-E Series transmissions were introduced, they have had inadequate metering of 2nd gear band servo release oil resulting in 3-4 clutch pack failure. The 3-4 clutch pack and 2nd gear band are just not properly synchronized. Sonnax servo release check valve kits combine an orifice with a ball check valve to resolve these issues and successfully extend the life of 3-4 clutches, and improve the 2-3 shift feel. Sonnax Line pressure booster kits allow you to shift aggressively and then feel the tranny grab the clutches with more power when it changes gear. The larger boost valves and matching regulator springs raise line pressure progressively as higher pressure is commanded. These kits modify the sensor signal, which causes the computer to create a pressure increase. They're installed between the pressure sensor and vehicle harness using OE-style sealed connectors; no modifications are needed to the transmission.

Ford E4OD and 4R100 transmissions often display shifting irregularities which can be traced to problems with accumulator control valves. Wear ridges form as the valve moves in and out of the bore. Under high-pressure shifts, the valve is allowed to stroke too far, causing it to hang up on these ridges and block oil flow to the associated clutch. This results in soft shifts, loss of gear, and burnt clutches. Sonnax 1-2 and 2-3 accumulator control valve kits resolve these issues and provide a firmer-than-OE shift quality. (The kit fits either of those two locations.) GM 6L45, 6L50, 6L80 and 6L90 automatic transmission units may exhibit multiple line pressure and cooler/converter/lube flow problems due to excess wear in the pressure regulator bore. Deterioration at the balance spool end allows critical fluid loss, resulting in high line pressure, harsh shifts, and overheating due to reduced cooler/converter flow. Wear at the outboard spool robs converter feed pressure and lowers line pressure, resulting in soft shifts and burnt clutches. Installing a Sonnax pressure regulator valve kit restores the hydraulic integrity of these circuits for proper line pressure control in all ranges. A new pressure regulator valve outer spring is also included to replace weakened original springs and provide a modest 5 psi increase across the pressure curve.
