Sonnax actuator feed limit valve kits eliminates problems with the OE AFL valve design in GM 4L60-E, 4L65-E and 4L70-E units. OE designs have a large reaction area and are highly affected by side loading which wears the valve body bore, resulting in lower oil pressure to the shift solenoid and lower line pressures. Sonnax kits include a redesigned AFL valve and a wear-resistant sleeve to regulate pressure and re-establish proper pressure control. The hardcoat anodized aluminum valve features annular grooves to prevent side loading and has 54 percent more support by operating in the full contact sleeve. GM 6L45, 6L50, 6L80 and 6L90 automatic transmission units may exhibit multiple line pressure and cooler/converter/lube flow problems due to excess wear in the pressure regulator bore. Deterioration at the balance spool end allows critical fluid loss, resulting in high line pressure, harsh shifts, and overheating due to reduced cooler/converter flow. Wear at the outboard spool robs converter feed pressure and lowers line pressure, resulting in soft shifts and burnt clutches. Installing a Sonnax pressure regulator valve kit restores the hydraulic integrity of these circuits for proper line pressure control in all ranges. A new pressure regulator valve outer spring is also included to replace weakened original springs and provide a modest 5 psi increase across the pressure curve. Sonnax throttle valve plunger kits address the poor line rise or no detent downshifts that can be common complaints in vehicles with a stock overdrive transmission. The steel plunger continuously reciprocates within the aluminum sleeve, wearing out the sleeve. Continuous oscillation in relay valve and sequence valve bore causes wear that prevents proper hydraulic control. You can recover hydraulic control and renew 2nd and 4th gear operation by reconditioning the entire bore and installing a Sonnax oversized 4-3 sequence valve kit. These kits address wear on the inboard two spools that is increasingly more common in aging valve bodies. Wearing at these spools can allow valuable 4th servo feed leakage, resulting in no 4th and 2-4 band wear, and can also allow leakage of 2nd clutch oil needed to apply the 2-4 band in 2nd gear, resulting in poor 2nd gear shifts. Leaking at the OE end plug also allows oil loss that can leave 4th gear inoperable. Sonnax servo release check valve kits are unique solutions. Since the GM 4L60 (700-R4) and 4L60-E Series transmissions were introduced, they have had inadequate metering of 2nd gear band servo release oil resulting in 3-4 clutch pack failure. The 3-4 clutch pack and 2nd gear band are just not properly synchronized. Sonnax servo release check valve kits combine an orifice with a ball check valve to resolve these issues and successfully extend the life of 3-4 clutches, and improve the 2-3 shift feel.
