Additionally, in 1999 and later vehicles, the factory EPC pressure was set high at idle, resulting in engine surge conditions in GM 4L80-E and 4L85-E units. Sonnax NSS adapter kits allow late-style, 5-wire neutral safety switch cases to be used in early-style, 3-wire vehicles. Chrysler changed the design of its digital neutral safety switch, the result was the case hole was made larger and the late-model Chrysler 42RE, 46RE, and 47RE cases could not be used for applications requiring the early-style neutral safety switch.
