Sonnax cooler line repair kits allow case salvage without transmission removal. A common complaint in late-model Chrysler rear-wheel-drive units is a cracked and/or leaking case caused by installing the cooler lines. The tapered threads and the lack of a stop on the OE cooler line fitting can load the case and create a fracture, resulting in leakage that may require replacing the case. Sonnax kits feature adapters that seal on the leading edge, preventing fluid from reaching the fitting threads and crack. Sonnax Feed Limit Low Valve Kits

The feed limit low valve in listed GM transmissions limits line pressure feed to the default disable solenoid and control valves. Feed limit low pressure is also connected to the boost ball system for "A" and "B" clutch control. This feed limit low valve is subject to significant side-load force, resulting in severe wear and pressure loss to the default disable solenoid and connected control valves. Such pressure loss can put the vehicle into default mode at high speeds, resulting in momentary wheel lockup, sudden downshift to 2nd gear, harsh shifts or a P0747 code. The feed limit low valve can wear out in as little as 30,000 miles, with many vehicles requiring service by 35,000 miles. A national recall from GM includes installing updated software that monitors valve performance and wear, then triggers a check engine light and reduced propulsion message 10,000 miles before failure. Vehicles are then limited to 5th gear, commonly referred to as limp mode, until the valve body is serviced to address the failed valve. Sonnax patented this drop-in feed limit low valve kit to overcome bore wear, restoring proper valve function immediately without the need or expense of replacing the entire valve body. Vehicles with a GM 8L45 or 8L90 automatic transmission may exhibit high or low line pressure that results in harsh/soft shifts, burnt clutches, loss of cooler and lube flow, and overheating of the transmission and converter. These problems may be caused by wear of the pressure regulator bore casting at the VFS signal port area and/or at the shuttle valve sleeve. Wear at the inboard port of the pressure regulator bore allows VFS (throttle) signal pressure to leak, preventing proper action of the pressure regulator valve and potentially allowing it to remain in the low line pressure position. Wear of the shuttle sleeve due to continuous oscillation of the shuttle valve creates a path for balance line pressure at the pressure regulator valve to exhaust, resulting in excessive low line pressure. The Sonnax automatic transmission reverse servo spacers provide a simple, low-cost way to add durability to the GM 4L80-E and 4L85-E transmissions and eliminates the need to retrofit early design reverse servo pistons into late units. Due to a design change in 1996, it had been found that the reverse servo piston commonly breaks because it is stressed more than early servos. Installation of Sonnax reverse servo spacers reduce piston stress by increasing the contact area between the aluminum piston and spacer and incorporating a cushion spring washer. The new contact area is over two times the original and the pressure between the piston and the spacer is reduced by 60 percent. The reverse servo spacer kits easily install during assembly and does not require machining or other modifications. Excessively high line pressure in 'Reverse' is directly related to boost valve wear and cross-leaks into the EPC oil circuit. For maximum durability, inspect and replace the boost valve with one of the Sonnax 4L80-E boost valve kits (sold separately).
