Checking L/R band adjustment after repeated use is good practice. Unfortunately, OE servos with steel covers are difficult to adjust in a vehicle, so a quick check with such a servo installed is impractical for most racers. Ford vehicles with C6 transmissions often have oil pan leaks. The original Ford C6 oil pans are made with thin-gauge steel. If the oil pan bolts are over-tightened, the flange at the bolt holes will warp and result in a poor gasket seal. Once the oil pan flange is distorted, it's difficult to repair and get a good seal. Sonnax automatic transmission pans are 25 percent thicker than OE, made of heavy gauge material and will resist warping at the bolt holes. The thicker flange will allow the bolts to be tightened enough to compress the gasket evenly and result in a good seal. Sonnax pans will withstand repeated assembly without damage.

It's common for one of the three plastic retention tabs to break on the wiring harness case pass-through connector in GM 4L80-E and 4L85-E units. This allows the connector to be pushed into the case when connecting the external harness. Not only does this require extra labor to fix, it also requires a new wiring harness. Sonnax wiring harness connector bracket 34998-01K retains the internal harness connector even though the retention tabs may be broken. Additional notes: * Bracket firmly holds the connector in place from inside the pan using existing hardware * Connector bracket saves expensive wiring harness replacement * Bracket and bolts are included * 4L80-E and 4L85-E units use two different wiring harness connector styles. The early style has exposed terminals and a red rubber gasket. The late style has a gray plastic enclosure surrounding the terminals. The Sonnax bracket 34998-01K works only with the late style connector.

On most GM and Ford transmissions with cables, the throttle valve cable pulls out of adjustment at wide-open throttle. This is typically caused by inaccurate geometry of the throttle shaft lever. There should be a specific degree of movement of the attachment element pivot point between closed and wide-open throttle; and a specific distance between the pivot points of the attachment element and the throttle shaft lever.
