The new Ultra 6AL Plus ignition boxes deliver full MSD power in a compact, lighter package! The Ultra 6AL Series continues to use a high-speed controller that can make extremely quick compensations to the output voltage, multiple spark series, timing and rpm limits, while maintaining precise timing and accurate rev limiting. The circuits and controller of the MSD have been thoroughly filtered to create protection against Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI). Ultra 6AL Series features a capacitive discharge ignition design. (The majority of stock ignition systems are inductive ignitions, in which the coil must store and step up the voltage to maximum strength in between each firing. At higher RPM, since there's less time to charge the coil to full capacity, the voltage falls short of reaching maximum energy—which results in a loss of power or top end miss.) If your Coyote-powered Ford was built after February 23, 2016, and you need a 2-Step rev-limiter for consistent burnouts or launches, MSD part number 87311 has you covered. When activated, the 2-Step will hold your engine at a constant RPM. This can be achieved by way of a clutch switch or push button. As soon as your activation switch or button is released, full ignition is restored and you're off to the races. The RPM is adjusted with two built-in rotary dials ranging from 1,800-9,900 rpm in 100 rpm increments. A handy LED shows when the launch rev limit is active.
