Stillen offers a wide range of performance parts, including the Trupower air intake scoops for a variety of vehicle makes and models. The factory air intake system on various Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra vehicles is a very unique and creative design. There is no natural path for the air to flow through. The air must travel up the face of the radiator in order to make its way into the air intake opening. Keep in mind the radiators operational temperature is 180-220 degrees—significantly higher than ambient. To solve the issues with this otherwise, fantastic design the team at Stillen created a proper scoop—the Trupower, which lowers the base of the radiator shroud to be in line with the top bar of the vehicle's grille. This design allows for air to come directly into the intake system without being warmed by the radiator or disrupted by lattice type material in the radiator shroud, which eliminates the pre-heating and turbulence caused by the factory system. Wrap yourself in even more cabin protection, these Competition Engineering 10-point roll bar strut kits are the partner package for the 10-point roll bar main hoop kits. They include the two rear struts, two front door bars, ten 6 in. x 6 in. x 1/8th in. mounting pads, and 12 joint gussets. These combined with the main hoop kit give you the surrounding protection of a 10-point roll cage. This type of modification is required in most circuits of racing to provide increased cabin safety, while also improving the vehicles side impact protection. Best installed with the interior removed, they do require a mild amount of fabrication to properly fit to your vehicles application. Common installation steps may involve trimming length to fit your desired interior design, and welding is definitely involved. If you currently have an 8-point roll bar installed, one of Competition Engineering's 10-point roll bar conversion kits will upgrade your 8-point bar to a 10-point cage. These weld-in kits consist of a top hoop, which attaches to the front of the existing roll bar and follows the perimeter of the roof, plus two supports for the front of the top hoop. Both the top hoop and the supports are made from rugged, 1 5/8 in., 0.134 in. wall, computer mandrel-bent, mild-steel tubing.
