Hooker Super Competition sidemount headers and mufflers deliver the most aggressive style and performance for your early Corvette, Camaro, Nova, or Firebird. Sidemount headers are built from lightweight 18-gauge tubing. Sidetubes slip directly into the collector for a leak-free seal. They are available in your choice of three finishes: Show quality chrome, high heat-resistant black paint, and metallic ceramic coating. The replaceable mufflers are available separately in two different styles: glasspack and reverse flow. The glasspack style provides the highest performance with minimal backpressure and sound control, while the reverse flow is designed for maximum sound control. Unless otherwise noted, these headers are designed to fit the vehicle as it came from the manufacturer. Made from high-silicon-moly ductile iron, these manifolds are much more durable and retain more heat than fabricated headers. The manifold kits include stainless steel V-band clamps and flanges, heater hose heat shield, and header bolts. A turbo crossover tube is used to connect the two manifolds (sold separately). The mufflers are easily removed for racing purposes, and are available in a performance-style glasspack or in a quieter, all-metal, reverse flow-style. They produce an average of 23 percent more power than open headers, and feature a high-flow, perforated core that operates at 99 percent efficiency. High-temperature packing material absorbs noise while producing a powerful, mellow sound. The outer case is constructed of durable 16-gauge aluminized steel and protected by electrostatically applied high-temperature black paint.
