They have a larger piston area which increases band-apply pressure and holding power. These kits are drop-in upgrades and will really firm up the 1-2 shift. This is accomplished by a system of combining a variety of weights and springs in your governor, modifying the vehicle speed signal your transmission's shift valves receive. In an automatic transmission the sprag also called a one-way, or roller clutch is a mechanical clutch designed to lock up or stop a drum from rotating when a clutch is applied during an up shift.
