The Edelbrock '32 roadster is one of the most recognized cars in all of hot rodding! Vic Edelbrock, Jr. was an American automotive aftermarket performance parts engineer, racer and is considered one of the founders of the American hot rod movement. He had an impact on hot rodding unlike anyone else. His inventiveness, ability to create extraordinary performance from ordinary engines and ingenuity and dedication to engine building earned him a legacy that will last forever. In 1938, Vic Sr. bought a '32 Ford and used it to test new speed parts, more or less inventing "the project car." The first big seller from an Edelbrock project car was the Slingshot manifold. Vic became a consistent winner with his modified roadster at racing speeds of 112 mph. He would drive the Ford to the dry lakes, remove the fenders and the windshield, and then race the car. At the end of the races, he would re-install the fenders and the windshield and drive it home. 1:18 Scale 1966 Pontiac GTO Restomod Diecast Model
By any calculation, 1966 was a momentous year for the GTO. The original muscle car had come into its own in persona and popularity. It even became a separate series featuring the hardtop, pillared sports coupe, and convertible. The GTO's all-new body incorporated Coke-bottle side styling and a recessed backlight, with sail panels that provided a semi-fastback appearance. Graduating from the tough, boxy street brawler look of 1965, the '66 was refined with integrated shapes. Its front bumper became an integral part of the nose, closely following the curves of the newly sculpted split grilles and headlamp bezels. Parking lamps were set into the grilles à la the 1963 and 1964 Grand Prixes, and the grilles were blacked out--a muscle car styling cue that Pontiac initiated on the GTO in 1964 and would be used by much of its competition going forward.
