Quicksilver's long block assemblies are all-new (not rebuilt, remanufactured, or reconditioned) marine engines and feature improved components, technology, and built-in durability designed to withstand years of marine duty--one of the most abusive and demanding environments for any engine. The foundation of every Quicksilver long block engine is a new iron block cast to Quicksilver's specifications and designed expressly for marine duty. Thicker castings ensure quieter operation and better durability in saltwater when compared to a standard automotive block. They feature Black-X composite valves that contribute to a 42 percent reduction in valve wear compared to traditional stainless steel valves with hardened seats, while smooth-flowing cylinder heads deliver added performance. Quicksilver Value Series long blocks are cost-effective solutions when replacing an engine with a reliable fuel system and dress components that can be reused, typically when the original engine block has suffered freeze damage.
