Here, at last, is the king of all big block crate engines from Chevrolet Performance. These 502 cu. in. engines are available unassembled or fully assembled. Each version makes extensive use of aluminum to keep weight down—including aluminum heads, intake, water pump, and valve covers. Additionally, ZZ502 c.i.d. deluxe long block crate engines are full of heavy-duty parts, such as: forged aluminum pistons, forged shot-peened steel connecting rods with 7/16 in. bolts, forged steel crankshaft, 14 in. automatic transmission flexplate, 4-bolt main blocks, stainless steel valves, 6 qt. oil pan, and windage trays. The complete Chevrolet Performance engine kits come with Gen 6 four-bolt main blocks with one-piece rear main seals. Hydraulic roller camshaft specs are: .527 in. intake lift, .544 in. exhaust lift; the duration at .050 in. for intake is 224, and 234 for exhaust with a 112-degree lobe centerline. Other features include a single roller timing chain, aluminum large oval port, and 110cc combustion chambered heads. They start with a tall deck Sportsman Bowtie block and an all-forged roller assembly, then add a hydraulic roller camshaft and high-flow spread-port CNC-machined cylinder heads derived from Pro Stock racing technology. The RS-X design cylinder heads feature symmetrical ports to produce similar power from all eight cylinders. Chevrolet Performance LSX 454 long block crate engines are built with an all-forged, super-tough rotating assembly and feature a pair of new deep-breathing LSX 6-bolt cylinder heads. They also come dressed with great looking, all-new orange powdercoated valve covers with an engraved LSX 454 logo. Their 350 c.i.d. truck long block crate engines are built up from 1996-2002 style 4-bolt main blocks with one-piece rear main seals. To this, Chevrolet adds a nodular-iron crankshaft, powdered-metal connecting rods, and hypereutectic aluminum pistons. You also get power-producing Vortec cylinder heads with 1.94 in. intake valves and 1.50 in. exhausts, and 64cc combustion chambers that yield a gas-pump friendly 9.4:1 compression ratio. This combination is paired up with a roller cam that has 0.414 in. of intake lift and 0.428 in. for the exhaust. Duration at 0.050 in. of lift is 191 degrees for the intake and 196 for the exhaust, with 111 degrees of lobe separation.
