They are designed in-house and normally utilize a single plate organic, ceramic, or carbon friction disc along with an upgraded factory-style pressure plate. XClutch kits utilize a similar mechanism to the factory clutch, making them ideal enhancements for most vehicles with low to mid-level performance modifications. Stage 1 clutch kits are available in three distinct performance clutch packages—sprung, rigid solid, and steel-backed organic. South Bend Clutch Stage 3 Daily Driver clutch kits are recommended for single mass flywheel (SMF), when original design is dual mass flywheel (DMF). These clutch packages are designed for high-horsepower vehicles desiring a start performance similar to OE. The pressure plate is race engineered (SS) and SFI-approved with significant load increase over stage 1 and 2 pressure plates (+600-800 lbs.). Expect a pedal effort increase of 20 to 25 percent. Discs are assembled with heat-treated wear-resistant hubs, as well as drive plates and springs for high-load transfer and dependable operation. The sprung centers on the disc, in conjunction with the marcel fin between the linings, create a dual dampening effect that simulates OE start performance.
