BTR connecting rods are state-of-the-art 4340 H-beam rods for your build. They feature heat-treated, stress relieved, and shot peened bodies with bronze bushed pin bores, and the cap and rod are serialized at the parting line to ensure proper mating after disassembly. BTR inspects them for bearing housing and pin bore diameter, bend/twist, and C/L length. Howards Cams Ultimate Duty forged billet connecting rods start with certified high-nickel 4340 aircraft-quality steel and are fully CNC-machined on the newest generation of equipment to ensure the removal of all surface imperfections. They are specially heat-treated using a multi-phase process to produce the ultimate in strength and reliability. Then these Ultimate Duty rods are fully stress-relieved and shot-peened to ensure that no stress risers remain. Howards Cams Ultimate Duty Forged billet connecting rods are profiled for long stroke applications and weight savings. The rod caps are double-ribbed for added strength and the rod cap alignment sleeves will keep the bearing caps precisely aligned. The rods are bronze bushed for floating pins and use 7/16 in. ARP 2000 cap screw fasteners to secure the caps.

Their 2-piece, forged, vacuum-degassed, 4340-certified steel construction provides outstanding strength, while still weighing much less than stock rods. Each rod is multi-stage heat-treated, X-rayed, sonic-tested, magnafluxed, 100 percent machined, and then shot-peened to stress-relieve the metal. The rods have precision cap alignment sleeves to positively locate each rod cap, silicon bronze bushings for floating pin models—and are available in stroker models that allow additional cam-to-rod clearance for large stroke combinations. They come standard with 190,000 psi rated ARP 8740 and 230,000 psi rated ARP 2000 rod bolts, or 265,000 psi rated ARP L-19 bolts as upgrades. Instructions and rod bolt lubrication are included.
