The 3rd Gen Camaro and Firebird are known for having a weak and flexible steering box area. To address flex and improve handling, a steering brace, also known as the Wonder Bar from QA1, is available. These tubular components bolt directly above the front sway bar, tying the front subframes together. Installing a QA1 Wonder Bar helps stiffen the front frame, reducing stress on this weak point. Scott Drake Monte Carlo bars present high performance developed by Carroll Shelby. Designed to stop shock tower flex and maintain proper wheel alignment during hard cornering, the extra support of these braces will also help prevent shock tower stress cracks. Monte Carlo bars are copied from the original design and feature thicker diameter tube, plus improved fender brackets. Scott Drake has stamped square holes in the top of each fender bracket to allow for the use of lower-profile carriage bolts. You may choose options of curved or straight in steel construction—and a choice of finishes, or stainless steel. They also offer curved race versions that feature .975 in. diameter tubing and are equipped with Heim joints for smoother operation.
