COMP Cams Open Wheel Modified Traction Control Camshafts
The industry-leading camshaft designers at COMP Cams set out to engineer a camshaft specifically for the requirements of open wheel modified racers. They had to take on the daunting task of building maximum horsepower, while still taking into consideration the tire restrictions, chassis technology, engine combinations, and common rule packages found in open wheel modified racing sanctioning bodies, such as IMCA. The Open Wheel Modified Traction Control Camshaft Series is comprised of 10 solid flat tappet and mechanical roller grinds for small block Chevys. These powerful camshafts are separated into four categories, each of which is optimized for open wheel modified racing. A combination of proven camshaft design technologies and the most innovative and aggressive lobe profiles in the industry has produced camshafts that deliver an extremely wide powerband, pulling hard off the corner and all the way down the straightaway. A further benefit of the broad horsepower curve of these cams is that they minimize tire spin, creating legal traction control. These innovative grinds have been extensively track-tested, and they have been proven to run faster than any camshaft that has ever been tested for this type of racing. COMP Cams Ultra Pro Magnum Rocker Arms
Utilizing years of valvetrain design experience, the latest FEA stress analysis technology, and an exhaustive testing regiment (dyno and Spintron), COMP Cams engineering team left no detail to chance. Everything from casting techniques to valve spring clearance was scrutinized to ensure that Ultra Pro Magnum rocker arms not only lived up to the lofty standards of their predecessor, but also took stud mount rocker performance, stability, and value to a whole new level. The most noticeable advancement centers around their nearly unbreakable investment cast 8650 chromoly body. The arched, web-like design delivers a nearly 29 percent increase in strength and rigidity, while reducing the moment of inertia and optimizing the dynamic balance. The resulting rockers maximize lift and valvetrain control at high rpm. The increased retainer and valve spring clearances of the new design enable the use of large-diameter valve springs, retainers, and locks, without clearance or fitment issues. The new black oxide exterior finish offers a distinctive appearance, along with long-term corrosion resistance. The COMP Cams Ultra Pro Magnum rocker arms feature an oversized trunnion and precision-sorted needle bearings designed for use with high-load valve springs. These unique rockers also feature hardened roller tips for reduced friction and elimination of the valve stem "side loading" that causes premature valve guide wear.

COMP Cams 3-piece billet aluminum timing covers not only look good, but they work good, too. Save time and the hassle of breaking the oil pan seal when you need to change or adjust your timing chain or belt. Even with a thrust button, most stock stamped front covers flex under pressure, causing erratic ignition timing. These covers feature a rigid billet aluminum design that is strong enough to eliminate this flexing problem, hold your cam in place, and keep your timing in control. Endplay adjustment is made easy thanks to an access hole for the dial indicator. Plus, the 3-piece design allows your camshaft to be replaced without disturbing the oil pan seal or removing the harmonic damper. The covers use the same replacement hardware as the 2-piece models. COMP Cams Cam Phaser Limiter Kits
Comp Cams cam phaser limiter kits are specially designed, computer-controlled cam gears that automatically optimize camshaft timing based on the current engine rpm Engine oil is pressure-fed to the phasers through passageways in the cylinder heads and cams. The engine computers control solenoids that adjust this oil flow into and out of the phasers' control chambers, creating the ability to retard the cams. While this technology provides fuel efficiency and the ability to always be in the best position for maximum power, regardless of engine rpm, it does present some limitations when it comes to performance cams. With such a wide range of valve timing movement, there is very little piston to valve clearance, which limits you to small cam profiles with little overlap. COMP Cams cam phaser limiter kits restrict the range of cam timing movement (14 degrees for Chrysler, 20 degrees for Ford, and 22 degrees for GM), thus providing the necessary valve clearance for serious performance cams with tighter lobe separations--all while utilizing the benefits of VVT technology.
