Chevrolet Performance Bowtie Big Block Chevy Cast Iron Engine Blocks

Chevrolet Performance Bowtie big block Chevy cast iron engine blocks are CNC-machined. The race-prepared blocks feature blind head and accessory mounting bolt holes, a deck configuration that enables the use of any big block Chevy cylinder head—and cylinder bores that may be safely bored to a 4.600 in. maximum diameter, while maintaining a .250 in. minimum cylinder wall thickness. These engine blocks differ from the production-machined Bowtie versions in certain areas; they start from raw castings and are not "conversions." They also use a rear seal adapter to convert the Gen V/VI one-piece rear main seal to a Mark IV type 2-piece seal that facilitates the use of a widely available Mark IV style crankshaft. The intermediate caps also feature 16 splayed outer bolts, which anchor the caps into the strongest section of the blocks and prevent bearing cap movement under high loads. The main oil gallery on these blocks is relocated and enlarged to a 9/16 in. diameter to allow increased oil flow through the block. These Bowtie blocks have inner head bolt bosses, which allow for better retention of the cylinder heads in high-horsepower applications when the cylinder heads "lift" from the blocks due to high cylinder pressures. Order the style and deck height preferred for your application.

Chevrolet Performance 350 C.I.D. Cast Iron Racing Bowtie Bare Engine Blocks

These Chevrolet Performance 350 c.i.d. cast iron racing Bowtie bare engine blocks are CNC-machined from raw castings. All traditional racing modifications are provided by the factory. The heart of these blocks starts with a 3.980-4.155 in. Siamese bore cylinder case. In addition, all galleries required for dry sump oil system operation are drilled and tapped for pipe. 8620 steel bearing caps are installed on all locations of the blocks. The intermediate main bearing caps have the outer 7/16 in. diameter studs on the inner locations, and 3/8 in. diameter straight bolts on the outer locations. The rear bearing cap is a 2-stud (7/16 in. diameter) configuration and utilizes a 2-piece rear seal design. After the installation of the steel bearing caps, the blocks are align bored. Additional features include: * Priority main oiling * Enlarged lifter bosses * Bearing cap inner bolts spread .210 in. to allow use of 2.65 in. diameter journal cranks on properly modified blocks * Early model 2-piece rear main seals * Sonic bore check (data provided) * Use 1985 and earlier oil pans * Enlarged cam bosses in front and rear allow use of larger bearings * Use premium quality studs and 8620 200 steel splayed main bearing caps
