Mishimoto air-to-water performance intercooler Power Packs include S55 Performance intercooler, heat exchanger, and charge pipe kit to strengthen weaknesses in the BMW's design. The Power Packs are offered in a choice of 12 BMW-specific color matching options or classic black, so your go-fast parts in the engine bay can now match the exterior beauty of your BMW. Mishimoto's charge pipes feature full-aluminum construction with a cast mid-section and matte black silicone couplers that can handle the boost pressure, unlike the factory plastic that can crack under pressure, or split at the seams, creating a less than ideal situation as you pilot your vehicle. Next, the non-descript box is replaced with a stylish, colorful air-to-water intercooler featuring a bar-and-plate core with increased core volume and a single-pass coolant flow layout for optimal heat transfer. Restore and enhance your cooling system with a Mishimoto Performance Radiator Essentials Bundle. The bundles include high-quality upgraded cooling components to replace items Mishimoto found to be the most failure-prone. Kits feature an aluminum radiator, silicone radiator hose kit, high- and low-temperature thermostats—plus other components (depending on the bundle you select). The Performance radiator features full aluminum construction with durable TIG-welded end tanks. In addition, it's designed with a massive two-row 2.2 in. thick core, which provides substantial improvements in cooling efficiency. The radiator hose kit is constructed from four layers of silicone with heat-resistant embedded fibers. This combination of materials provides substantially improved heat and pressure tolerance compared to the stock rubber hoses. In addition, the kit includes a CNC-machined aluminum quick-disconnect fitting, providing a considerable improvement in durability over the stock plastic unit. Rounding out the basic Essentials Bundle is a pair of thermostat sets; high-temperature thermostats hasten engine warmup, making it ideal for use in cold climates. The low-temperature thermostats have a lower activation temperature compared to the factory thermostat. Sonnax Smart-Tech drum modules for racing GM TH400 transmissions improve on-track performance and consistency, leading to quicker ETs, more wins, and greater reliability. The TH400 is preferred for its overall durability and multitude of available ratios, but is known to be heavier and less efficient than the popular two-speed Powerglide. Part of the TH400 inefficiency results from the fact that the direct drum counter-rotates, spinning backwards in 1st gear, brakes to a complete stop on the 1-2 shift, then goes from 0 RPM to input RPM on the 2-3 shift. Significant energy is wasted through this cycle that robs power, upsets traction on the shifts, and contributes to broken internal parts. Compared to aluminum direct drums, the Smart-Tech drum module reduces the weight of the counter-rotating components by over 3.3 lbs.! And more significantly, because the weight of the Sonnax counter-rotating parts is closer to the centerline, there's a 68 percent reduction in energy required to stop and restart during the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts.
