Tremec offers a variety of TKX 5-speed manual transmission for select GM and Ford applications. Each model features different gear ratios. Order the transmission best suited for your vehicle. Tremec has normally sourced their aftermarket transmissions from the OE side, such as the Magnum T-56 and the T-5, but this new design is made from the ground up as a strictly aftermarket transmission. Designed to fit classic muscle cars and customs, the TKX has a tighter, more streamlined case, and features 600 lbs.-ft. of torque capacity and are capable of engines speeds of 8,000 rpm with shifts at 7,500 rpm. Introduced in the early 1980s, the Tremec T-5 has become a highly evolved, extremely compact, and versatile 5-speed manual transmission. In its rich history, the T-5 has been installed as original equipment in pickup trucks, SUVs, and performance automobiles. Today, the T-5 is available in its best form to date—sometimes referred to as "world class" or Z spec (from Ford's part number 7003Z). It has a 2.95 first gear with .63 overdrive, hardened gears, short throw factory shifter, steel front bearing retainer, tapered output shaft bearing, and a seven tooth-drive speedometer gear. Tremec introduces the Magnum-F 6-speed manual transmissions for fourth-generation Camaros and Firebirds. Designed to replace T-56 transmissions in 1998-2002 GM F-body cars, the Magnum-F leverages Tremec's pervasive TR-6060/Magnum architecture in order to provide fourth-gen enthusiasts significantly improved performance and relief from a shrinking pool of quality T-56 replacement parts. Born in the vacuum created by the release of the original T-56 Magnum (now known simply as 'Magnum') back in 2009, the Magnum-F fills a longstanding void in the overall Magnum line with regard to shifter locations—addressing not only LS1-powered '98-'02 F-bodies, but several other applications that utilize a similar shifter position. Beneficiaries include third-generation F-bodies, LT1-powered fourth-gens, LS-swapped late models of all varieties, and sport compact applications such as A80 Supras, FD RX-7s, and more! Where the original Magnum shifter locations may prove too far forward, and the extended length Magnum XL's too far back, the Magnum-F's in-between position often proves to be just right. Inside, the Magnum-F benefits from the same durable componentry found in many of today's hardest hitting OEM muscle and sports cars.
