Chevrolet Performance Bowtie big block Chevy cast iron engine blocks are CNC-machined. The race-prepared blocks feature blind head and accessory mounting bolt holes, a deck configuration that enables the use of any big block Chevy cylinder head—and cylinder bores that may be safely bored to a 4.600 in. maximum diameter, while maintaining a .250 in. minimum cylinder wall thickness. These engine blocks differ from the production-machined Bowtie versions in certain areas; they start from raw castings and are not "conversions." They also use a rear seal adapter to convert the Gen V/VI one-piece rear main seal to a Mark IV type 2-piece seal that facilitates the use of a widely available Mark IV style crankshaft. The intermediate caps also feature 16 splayed outer bolts, which anchor the caps into the strongest section of the blocks and prevent bearing cap movement under high loads. The main oil gallery on these blocks is relocated and enlarged to a 9/16 in. diameter to allow increased oil flow through the block. These Bowtie blocks have inner head bolt bosses, which allow for better retention of the cylinder heads in high-horsepower applications when the cylinder heads "lift" from the blocks due to high cylinder pressures. S&S Cycle offers 96 in. Sidewinder Big Bore Stroker kits for a variety of Harley-Davidson© street bikes from 1970 and up. They're an economical route to a larger displacement engine. These kits contain nearly everything needed to take a stock 80 in. Harley-Davidson© Evolution Big Twin engine up to 96 in. displacement. They include S&S 3-5/8 in. bore aluminum Sidewinder cylinders and forged pistons, a 4 5/8 in. stroke dynamically balanced S&S flywheel assembly, complete with S&S heavy-duty connecting rods and mainshafts, head gaskets, base gaskets, and exhaust gaskets. The Twin Cam 88A crankcases from S&S Cycle provide a stronger, more reliable, and more durable foundation for the engine, particularly in high-performance applications, addressing weaknesses in the previous Evolution engine. The Twin Cam 88A is intended to replace crankcases in HD® Twin Cam 88 engines in existing HD® chassis only. S&S stock style crankcases have a rear motor mount that bolts directly to the stock 1999-2006 transmission for all models except 2006 HD® Dyna. Known for their strength and durability, these crankcases are compatible with the stock primary, charging system, and other stock components. High performance just got a lot easier and more affordable with S&S Cycle's CNC-ported B2 cylinder heads. In the past, S&S's B2 Special Application heads, that were used on the now legendary Tribute 145 engines, were often hailed as the best choice for very large displacement V-Twin engines. Now S&S Cycle offers CNC-ported B2 cylinder heads that are even better—providing added convenience, economy, and performance at the same time. Convenient, because they now fit 2008-later bagger front motor mounts and the new two bolt exhaust mounting flange is a lot easier to work with.
