But before they ship, each unit goes through complete inspection, component replacement, and quality control process to assure dependable, reliable shift-ability. Zumbrota rebuilds units from New Process, Borg Warner, and other major manufacturers to fill fitments for foreign and domestic passenger cars, trucks, and SUVs. FTI Performance SST Series Torque Converters
FTI Performance SST Series custom-order torque converters are available for use with a variety of transmissions, including Powerglide, THM350, and THM400. The 9 in. units are used by top drag racers. A torque converter is what transmits torque from the engine to a rotating driven load. It's a type of fluid coupling which allows the engine to spin somewhat independently of the transmission. SST Series torque converters are available with a 0-blade stator for a turbo spline, or the looser 6T stator model.

They're available in single-disc and triple-disc lock-up assemblies, as well as four different stall speed rating RPM ranges.
