As the name suggests, a dual rear wheel (DRW) truck—also called a dually—has a pair of wheels on each side of the rear axle for a total of six wheels per vehicle. As the name suggests, a dual rear wheel (DRW) truck—also called a dually—has a pair of wheels on each side of the rear axle for a total of six wheels per vehicle. The two additional rear wheels can increase the payload or towing capacity and improve the traction and stability of heavy-duty pickups, tow trucks, and other dually equipped vehicles. Dually wheels differ from the wheels you’ll find on a single rear wheel (SRW) vehicle. The front wheels and the inside rear wheels on a DRW truck have an extreme positive offset. Conversely, the outside rear wheels have an extreme negative offset, and they mount face-to-face with the inside wheels on the rear hubs.
