It’s usually located on the butterfly spindle of the throttle body so it can directly monitor how far open the plates are, which helps your computer (ECU) figure out how much air is coming in. A bad TPS can affect everything from idle quality to fuel efficiency, and aftermarket components—like nitrous oxide controllers and electronic overdrive transmissions—rely on it as well.
