Leaf springs are fine for stock street vehicles, but performance driving and power adders can expose their weaknesses. Rotational torque from hard acceleration can cause the rear axle housing to bend the rear springs; this condition is called axle wrap. It can cause the rear suspension to “squat,” create a loss of traction, and even break the springs.
There are several ways to combat axle wrap, and the right method for your application depends on a wide variety of factors. Suspension torque arms perform the job by tying together the rear axle housing and the rear of the front subframe. They’re great if you don’t have the...

There are several ways to combat axle wrap, and the right method for your application depends on a wide variety of factors. Suspension torque arms perform the job by tying together the rear axle housing and the rear of the front subframe. They’re great if you don’t have the room for a 4-link above the axles (or just don’t want to cut the floor or lose the back seats), and they’re ideal for road course racing as well.
You can always shop with confidence at Summit Racing Equipment! We only carry suspension components that we’d use in our own project vehicles, including UMI Performance, QA1, BMR, Heidts, Global West, and more.

UMI Performance 1993-2002 GM F-Body 3-pt. subframe connectors and torque arm kits provide an easy bolt-on drag race solution for GM F-bodies. These suspension connectors reinforce the chassis and prevent quarter-panel wrinkling from hard launches; a tunnel-mounted torque arm is the proven solution to reduce 60 ft. times. Shortened torque arm improves instant center location; as a result, forward traction is improved. These kits include removable and replaceable NHRA-approved driveshaft loop. Using both parts together dramatically reduces chassis flex. Product features: * 3-pt. subframe connectors reinforce chassis and prevent quarter-panel buckling * Shorter than stock, tunnel-mounted torque arm improves forward traction * Complete kit braces entire underside of car to reduce chassis flex * NHRA approved driveshaft loop (removable and replaceable) * Includes hardware

BMR Suspension tunnel mounted torque arms improve handling, reduce wheel hop, and add strength plus adjustability to your 4th Gen GM F-body. These packages mount the torque arm to the transmission tunnel mount instead of the transmission tail shaft, making them ideal for high-horsepower applications. The tunnel mount design removes the load from the transmission, which can damage the transmission, and puts the heavy loads of high-power cars into the chassis. The torque arm crossmember provides an adjustable mounting plate for the torque arm, while adding strength to the floor by reinforcing the transmission tunnel. Features: * Heavy-duty 1.25 in., 0.120 in. wall DOM steel tubing * Heavy-duty 1/4 in. laser-cut, CNC-formed steel plate * MIG-welded * Five mounting positions for instant center and pinion angle adjustability * Integrated driveshaft safety loop (TA011/TA012) * Increased clearance for long-tube headers/aftermarket exhaust (TA012/TA014) * Mounts to the driveshaft tunnel brace * Uses factory differential mount * CNC-machined, on-car torque arm adjuster for pinion angle * 95-durometer polyurethane front mount * Massive increase in strength over factory torque arm * Available in black hammertone or red powdercoat

If you've increased the power level of your 3rd Gen, damaged transmission tail housings can be a common and costly issue. QA1 has designed a solution with their Tunnel mounted torque arms and dedicated transmission crossmember to provide greater strength and peace of mind. This increases traction, reduces wheel hop, and reduces dive during braking. The torque arms are a direct-fit with several popular rear end housings. Additionally, QA1's Tunnel mounted torque arms feature pinion angle adjustability, allowing for precise tuning based on your vehicle's setup. The Tunnel mounted torque arms are available to fit OEM, Strange 12-bolts, and aftermarket 9 in. housings, as well as Strange S60 and Moser 12-bolt housings. Select the QA1 Tunnel mounted torque arms designed for your vehicle's application needs. Features and benefits: * Enhanced strength for high horsepower cars * Relocates mounts off the transmission * The torque arm has been rigorously tested to withstand up to 1,000 lbs.-ft. of torque, making it suitable for high-performance builds * The QA1 torque arm installs cleanly with a new transmission crossmember, fitting snugly in the tunnel without compromising ground clearance or exhaust clearance * It utilizes QA1 X-Series chromoly rod ends for mounting to the differential, ensuring strength * A polyurethane bushing at the front mount reduces noise and vibration while maintaining strength and durability * Pinion angle adjustability * Bolt-in design for easy installation
