Leaf springs are fine for stock street vehicles, but performance driving and power adders can expose their weaknesses. Rotational torque from hard acceleration can cause the rear axle housing to bend the rear springs; this condition is called axle wrap. It can cause the rear suspension to “squat,” create a loss of traction, and even break the springs.

They’re great if you don’t have the room for a 4-link above the axles (or just don’t want to cut the floor or lose the back seats), and they’re ideal for road course racing as well.
