Suspension knuckles, steering knuckles, wheel carriers, bearing housings, uprights…these components go by several names, but they share an important job. Located behind the wheel hub, they serve as a mount for the wheel bearing and the link between the wheels and the vehicle’s suspension. On the front of the vehicle, knuckles can be attached to the axle end, control arms, or strut, and they’re also where the steering system connects via a tie rod to pivot the wheels left or right. At the rear, they have a hub and bearing through which the axle or half shaft passes.

Suspension knuckles are stout parts, designed to last the life of the vehicle, but the various bearings and bushings attached to them can wear out over time. For trail rigs and rock-crawlers, consider upgrading your knuckles to withstand the extreme impacts and abuse of off-road action.
