Proform stud boss cutting tools include a universal arbor that also acts as a pilot/guide and fits into the original stud hole. When switching over your factory cylinder heads for screw-in studs, you need to machine down the stud boss equal to the thickness of the new stud's jam nut plus the guideplate thickness. Simply attach the boss cutter to an arbor press with the included adapter/guide, mount your cylinder head boss underneath the blade and cut away. Please note that the cylinder head may need to be angled correctly before cutting, and the finished cutting area should be at least the same diameter as the screw in stud hex nut flange area.
