What is a short block? While there may be some variances between the different crate engine manufacturers, a short block typically means the package includes the engine block and rotating assembly (crankshaft, pistons, rods, etc.). In other words, any of the LS short blocks you see here would be an excellent starting point for your LS engine build. You add your own cylinder heads, intake, ignition, and everything else—all tailored to your specific engine goals.
