Ratchet Shifters for Automatic Transmissions

A ratchet shifter is special type of automatic transmission shifter, so called because of the ratcheting mechanism inside. Push the lever forward, and the transmission shifts up to the next gear, with no chance of over shifting or moving into the wrong gear. Most ratchet shifters also feature lockout mechanisms to keep you from accidentally shifting into neutral or reverse.
