You may have heard of gas ported pistons in high-end racing engines. Summit Racing™ Pro GPX gas ported rings add this performance to ANY non-gas ported (or even gas-ported) piston. They are also a great way to juice up cast and hypereutectic pistons for little extra money. How do they work? With a series of perfectly oriented slots on the top side of the top piston compression ring, the combustion pressure reaches the inside the ring groove and fully activates the ring sooner and longer for better seal. This not only makes more horsepower; it dramatically reduces blow-by and reduces or even eliminates the need for a catch can. Other benefits? Because the rings are always rotating and directly exposed to the detergents in the oil, these ports stay clean without carbon buildup that fouls out gas ported pistons over time for longer term performance.
