Panhard bars (also called track bars, trac bars or panhard rods/track rods) are suspension components that keep the rear axle (or sometimes the front axle on solid axle setups) from moving side to side. They control the lateral position of the axle. Mechanically, each is a rigid bar, with one end connected to a pivot on one side of the chassis, and the other is connected to a pivot on the axle on the opposite side of the vehicle.
