On a stock truck, the rear axle is attached to the bottom of the rear leaf springs, but who wants to keep things stock? A flip kit attaches that axle to the top of the leaf spring instead, effectively lowering the vehicle a few inches. Off-roaders like this trick too, since it turns the leaf springs into sliders for the rear axle, protecting it from getting snagged on obstacles.

Most flip kits include U-bolts, mounting plates, axle locators, and hardware; some kits may include additional components, like a C-notch frame element to allow for greater axle travel.
